Description

“The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence – it is to act with yesterday’s logic.” – Peter Drucker

Ongoing supply chain challenges, labor shortages, exploding e-commerce, rising consumer prices, increasing costs of operating the business, rapidly growing inflation, the ever-changing impact of COVID, and increasing competition (both physical and digital) are but a few of the challenges an independent operator faces as they open their doors every day. During the first half of our session, we will present the most likely economic scenarios expected for 2022. The economy, the evolving shopper and ongoing channel dynamics will be at the core of our research helping independent operators frame 2022 possibilities. In the second half of our session, we will present a series of recommendations – strategy, organizational, and operational which we believe could help independent operators successfully navigate a tumultuous 2022. From ongoing research with several C-level executives and owners, we identified a set of “Best Practice” innovative ideas designed to help independent retailers rethink their 2002 go to market strategies and tactics. Competing in the new norm requires independent grocers to act with new logic – not yesterday’s logic. The goal of this session is to help the independent retail community rethink 2022.
